Rutgers University New Academic Building and Student Housing
Convergent Technologies recently started working with Elkus Manfredi Architects and the New Brunswick Development Corporation to transform the former New Brunswick Seminary into a 175,000 square-foot Rutgers University academic building for the School of Arts and Sciences. The project will also include a residential honors college and a multi-level parking garage in Lot 8.
Convergent Technologies’ scope of services for the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) includes the design of audiovisual, telecommunications cabling, and security systems with supporting infrastructure. Educational technology for the SAS building will foster collaborative learning environments and technologically advanced presentation spaces. The new academic building will house about 2,500 seats of classroom space in the form of contemporary lecture halls.
For the Rutgers Honors College, CTDG is responsible for the Low Voltage systems to support this building as well as Acoustical Analysis and Recommendations of the design. The Honors College will have various multi-use spaces such as meeting rooms, multipurpose room, seminar spaces, and study areas. These projects are all currently in the design phase and are slated for completion in early 2016.
