Surprise 11 broadcasts city council meetings and informative programs about city news and events. Scope of work includes a $1 million dollar design to budget for Channel 11 Broadcast Communications technology systems to include: video production and recording, digital/analog audio recording, videoconferencing, audiovisual presentation and recording, along with the supporting inside/outside cable plant with associated infrastructure. Space plans included: Production Studio with associated control rooms and talent areas, audio/video engineering studios, and conference rooms. The building also includes an indoor shooting range, the city’s Emergency Operations Center, 911 dispatch center and joint police and fire training center featuring an amphitheater. Technology systems included: master control/production console, AV preview monitoring, analog/digital video production switcher, digital audio recording/editing/mastering, multiple-camera broadcast news set, fully dimmable production floor lighting grid, teleprompting system, and an intercommunications system throughout the control room, filming stage, and audio booth. Project responsibilities included cost estimating and project management through construction administration for all audiovisual broadcasting, recording and editing systems. Specified systems to be installed include a Telos multi-line call-in system to support on-air telephone calls. Project highlights include the chance to design a professional broadcasting studio worthy of major network broadcasting quality. Additional responsibilities include the review of building criteria as they apply to acoustics, noise and vibration for all studio spaces, the development of acoustical criteria for HVAC equipment noise levels and sound isolation, and recommendations for room layout, shaping, and acoustical finishes.
