Maricopa County Community College District: Gateway CC – Maricopa Skill Center Expansion & Renovation

The scope of work for the Gateway Community College Maricopa Skills Center includes design services for audiovisual systems with associated supporting infrastructure, acoustics, noise & vibration control, telecommunications cabling infrastructure, access control/video surveillance security systems and LAN/WiFi/PBX electronics. The facility provides work force development and vocational programs in year round enrollment. Educational technology systems include audiovisual presentation and recording, speech reinforcement, custom “smart” presenter’s lecterns, complete specifications for all audiovisual & multimedia systems, and abilities to present video based or computer generated presentations via LCD projection systems. Spaces to receive educational technology systems include classrooms, sub-dividable classrooms, common areas and a nursing simulation suite. All lecture and lab spaces have significant technology infrastructures to support state-of-the-art teaching equipment and methods. The year round enrollment with classes beginning every two weeks presented unique challenges to the project team. The scope of this project commenced at the Schematic Design phase and has been in use since Summer 2011.
