Coppin State University – Health and Human Services Building

The scope of this project includes a $3.5 million design to budget for educational technology systems to include: healthcare observation & recording, immersion classroom distance learning, internet based classroom teaching systems, audiovisual presentation and recording, program/speech audio reinforcement, custom instructor’s stations, telecommunications cabling (voice, data, RF Video), as well as network, wireless, and telephony electronics. The types of spaces to receive educational technology systems include: 100-seat lecture hall, general classrooms/laboratories, seminar classrooms, distance learning center, moot court room, technology center, computer labs, observation/exam rooms, demonstration/counseling rooms, and meeting/conference rooms. Design responsibilities include program verification, drawing documentation, specification preparation, and construction administration for all audiovisual systems, telecommunications cabling systems, and acoustics, noise & vibration control analysis. Specifications include procedures and methods for connecting existing campus telecommunications networks and expanding campus infrastructure to incorporate the 100% growth of outlet counts on the campus as a result of this new project. Additional responsibilities include the review of building criteria as they apply to acoustics, noise and vibration control for all acoustically sensitive spaces, mechanical systems, and a nearby railway line. Project opportunities include working with campus technical staff to incorporate cutting edge Internet based learning software [Tegrity] into classroom instructional technology systems, and the integration of audiovisual recording/monitoring over the local area network. This project has been successfully complete since spring 2009.
