Delaware Technical & Community College – Health Sciences Building
The scope of this project included complete design services for audiovisual systems with supporting infrastructure, telecommunications cabling systems with supporting infrastructure, PBX/LAN/WiFi electronics and acoustics, noise & vibration control for a new Health Sciences Building. Spaces plans include: five 25-seat classrooms, 40-seat biology, chemistry and nursing classrooms, a student lounge, a 120-seat amphitheater/ tiered lecture hall, a 25-seat computer lab, chemistry/biology/microbiology/biotechnology labs, a bioinformatics classroom, and common areas throughout the building. Space plans also included Integrated Skills Classrooms for Respiratory Care Therapy, Diagnostic Medical Services, Acute Care/Health Assessment, Maternal/Child Care, Critical Care, Medical Surge and Clinical Simulation. Educational technology systems to be specified include: audiovisual presentation and recording, speech reinforcement, along with custom classroom instructor’s station and associated infrastructure. Special audiovisual requirements were evaluated and incorporated into the Integrated Skills Classrooms. Project responsibilities include preparing heat load figures for audiovisual and telecommunications cabling systems, evaluating design issues pertaining to visibility of projection systems, and complete project management and specifications of all audiovisual and telecommunications cabling systems. Additional project responsibilities include the review of building criteria as they apply to acoustics, noise and vibration control for all acoustically sensitive spaces, the development of acoustical criteria for HVAC equipment noise levels and sound isolation, and recommendations for room layout, shaping, and acoustical finishes.
