Franklin Square Hospital – New Patient Tower

The scope of this project includes complete design services for telecommunications (voice/data) cabling, nurse call/code blue, audio paging, audiovisual presentation, access control, video surveillance, equipment tracking, and wireless infrastructure systems for the new five story Franklin Square Hospital patient tower. The new 291-room tower will house an expanded six zone emergency department, large intensive care unit, and four new medical surgical units. Project responsibilities included the development of a technology systems program manual outlining new and existing technology systems based on site surveys, inventories, and programming workshops with representatives from Franklin Square Hospital. Representatives from the hospital were divided into three focus groups  clinical engineering, facilities department, and information systems/technology – in order to streamline the process and gather the right players early in the design process. Project opportunities included more robust wireless networks enabling doctors and nurses increased mobility and productivity over legacy communications systems. This project has been successfully complete since November 2010.
