Maricopa County Community College District: Mesa CC – Red Mountain Campus – Saguaro Bldg (Multipurpose:arts/science)

The scope of work for the Maricopa County Community College District, Saguaro Building at Mesa Community College, Red Mountain Campus included design services for audiovisual systems with associated supporting infrastructure and telecommunications infrastructure for voice/data/RF video outlets. The facility blends arts and sciences in a unique venue that provides for life sciences, research labs and performing arts underneath one roof. The performing arts component includes a control room that overlooks the black box theater and features a digital console that allows for the automated mixing of sound within the performing space. Lighting, audiovisual, and projection can also be managed and recorded from this 2nd floor production room. Educational technology systems included audiovisual presentation and recording, speech reinforcement, custom smart presenter’s lecterns, complete specifications for all audiovisual & multimedia systems, and abilities to present video based or computer generated presentations via LCD projection systems. All lecture and lab spaces have significant technology infrastructures to support state-of-the-art teaching equipment and methods. The scope of this project commenced at the Schematic Design phase and construction was completed in August 2009. The project is pursing LEED Gold Certification.
