National Aquarium in Baltimore – Main Cafe & Knott Harbor View Room

Convergent Technologies Design Group (CTDG) was asked by Design Collective, Inc. to provide audio systems design, room acoustics, and interior sound isolation analysis for the Knott Harbor View Room and Cafe at the National Aquarium located in Baltimore, MD. The unique architecture of the space required careful planning to ensure an even distribution of sound throughout the room. The final design included an extensive sound-reinforcement system including distributed loudspeakers, digital processing, wireless microphone capabilities, and an ability to handle a variety of audio sources. Analysis and recommendations were made regarding interior finishes, partition options, and design goals for background noise levels and RT60 times.
