Sequoia Schools – Children First Academy of Phoenix

The Children First Academy of Phoenix belongs to the Sequoia Schools District. Designed to meet the special needs of students at the poverty level, forty percent of the students are homeless. With a student population of 300 encompassing grades K-8, the school provides many additional services outside the norm of most schools, including medical and a family service center. The new facility allows the campus to meet the needs of 750
students. Plans included the addition of higher grades every year as the current students’ progress in their education. The school’s proximity to Phoenix Sky Harbor International airport, one of the nation’s busiest, prompted the need for additional acoustical feasibility analysis. Scope of services for this project included acoustical, noise & vibration control design for the gymnasium and an acoustical report for the mezzanine level. As the project is funded, phased growth will include design of all audiovisual
systems and supporting infrastructure. The project was completed summer 2013.
