Kossis Loft Residence – Kossis Loft Acoustics

Convergent Technologies was asked to review construction drawings and provide acoustic recommendations for the Kossis Loft Residence located in Pittsburgh, PA. Calculations were performed to determine the sound transmission from exterior noise, and from the public hallway and elevator located inside the building. Recommendations were made regarding partitions, doors, and window glazings to minimize exterior sound transmission into the residence. Interior noise control was also provided for the HVAC system, as well as a noisy laundry room and plumbing system. Vibration isolators, increased STC ratings for partitions and doors, and proper HVAC duct installation were all required to meet design goals.
