Scope of work for the new Visual and Performing Arts Center at Millersville University includes the renovation of 29,041 square feet and a 59,452 square foot expansion of the existing Lyte Auditorium/Alumni Hall. Lyte Auditorium is the main campus venue for recitals, student produced musicals, and the annual Cultural Affairs Committee Series. Convergent Technologies provided complete design services for telecommunications cabling systems, public address/paging system, and access control/video surveillance security systems with associated supporting infrastructure as they relate to this project. The newly renovated building will house the Music Department, hold approximately 650-seats and feature a concert hall, recital/rehearsal hall, piano lab, multipurpose dance hall, classrooms, music library, recording studio, department offices, an art gallery, scene shop and theatre. This project is part of the university’s master plan and is expected to improve and enhance the visual and performing arts programs on campus. Project responsibilities include design and specifications for all telecommunications cabling systems, video/CATV system and a reverse 911 mass notification paging system. This project is currently in the Construction Administration phase and is scheduled to be complete by the fall of 2011.
