Prince William County Public Schools – Edward L. Kelly Leadership Building

This project involved the transformation of former military barracks into the new administration headquarters for the Prince William County Public School district. The scope of this project included a $2 Million dollar design to budget for audiovisual systems to include audiovisual presentation and remote control systems, high output-speech reinforcement, room scheduling displays, lobby displays, portable video conferencing system, and logic controlled room combining and display. The types of spaces to receive audiovisual and multimedia systems include: 300-seat school board meeting room, sub-dividable meeting rooms, conference rooms, an exercise room, non-linear editing rooms, and control room. Design responsibilities included establishing acoustical criteria and offering recommendations for room treatments, finishes, and shaping. Project challenges include achieving acoustical separation between the sub-dividable spaces for their simultaneous use of multimedia systems. Highlights include: creating a digital congress system, separate control booth and video wall for the school board meeting room; a four section sub-dividable meeting space with the ability for each rooms audiovisual components to operate independently in closed mode or all four spaces to function as one in open mode a master control allowing audiovisual signals to be routed to or from any room containing audiovisual systems. The project has been successfully complete since fall 2008.
