Susquehanna University – Student Entertainment Building

The scope of this project includes the conversion of a prefabricated metal building into a social space for student programming. This project was in response to student demands for a student hangout/social space. Trax offers a nightclub setting in a safe campus environment. The space features a dance floor, performance stage, DJ booth, bar, outdoor patio, upper level seating area, lounge and gaming area. Convergent Technologies provided acoustics, noise and vibration control design services. Project responsibilities include recommendations for room shaping and finishes, reverberation time calculations and acoustical recommendations for doors and windows. Some of the acoustically sensitive areas are the stage, DJ booth, gaming area, 2nd level seating area and lounge and the outdoor patio. Project challenges include finding low cost materials that have more than one function. Additional responsibilities include recommendations for HVAC noise control.
