Tidewater Community College – Chesapeake Campus New Academic Building
Located between the rapidly-growing communities of Great Bridge and Deep Creek, the Chesapeake Campus of Tidewater Community College serves over 8,000 students. Sitting within the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area the college offers special programs in Administration of Justice, American Sign Language, Horticulture and Theatre. The new, two story, 60,000 square foot building is designed to accommodate general education programming in humanities and social sciences, classrooms, labs, performing arts spaces, faculty offices, administrative offices, and storage areas. Convergent Technologies provided telecommunications cabling systems infrastructure for voice/data/RF video outlets, audiovisual systems infrastructure, room acoustics, interior sound isolation, and HVAC noise control design services. Project responsibilities include: reviewing existing programmatic requirements and TCC standards for the telecommunications cabling (voice, data, video) systems, and audiovisual systems, and specifying all required supporting infrastructure; designing systems for locations throughout the project in which telecommunications cabling systems and audiovisual systems will be housed; and creating an outline recommended room reverberation times for general classrooms, labs, performing arts spaces, offices, and public areas as were applicable.
