University of MD, Biopark – BioPark Life Sciences Conference Center Discovery Auditorium

 

The University of Maryland’s BioPark Life Sciences Conference Center supports emerging, high-growth life science companies and specialized research centers. Featured as an amenity to induce such companies to lease space at the BioPark, the Discover Auditorium provides a venue for tenants or outside users to have access to training settings and state-of-the art technology for speakers. The scope for this project included the design of telecommunications cabling systems with associated supporting infrastructure for voice/data/RF video outlets, as well as, audiovisual systems with associated supporting infrastructure. The auditorium includes a control room that overlooks the presentation space and features remote control capability of all audiovisual source selections and associated electronics. Lighting and projection can also be managed from both the control room and at the presenter’s lectern via LCD touch panels. Presentation technology systems included audiovisual presentation and recording, speech reinforcement, custom smart presenter’s lecterns, and abilities to present video based or computer generated presentations via dual LCD projection systems. Project responsibilities included complete specifications for all audiovisual & multimedia systems. The auditorium will have significant technology infrastructures to support teaching/presentation equipment and methods. The scope of this project included the update of previous deliverables for a design project commencing with Construction Documents through Construction Administration of the installed systems and finishes. This project opened in the fall of 2009.
