University of MD, College Park – Easton Hall Renovation
Originally constructed in 1965, Easton Hall is an eight story, co-ed, traditional style residence hall, located between the Campus Recreation Center and the Stamp Student Union. Part of the Denton Community located across from the Clarice Smith Center for the Performing Arts, Easton Hall also houses the Math Success Program in its basement. Accommodating close to 600 residents, each room is equipped with data jacks for private telephone and computer use, and cable connections for each student in addition to providing wireless connections in first floor study lounges. Convergent Technologies designed telecommunications cabling systems with associated supporting infrastructure for voice/data/RF video outlets, and access control systems. Responsibilities included surveying the existing telecommunications cabling support spaces along with the existing access control locations, identifying the critical cabling pathways and systems to be maintained, and designing appropriate solutions for the renovation of the building.
