University of MD, College Park – Sorority House Renovations

Convergent Technologies provided complete design services for telecommunications (voice/data/video) cabling, access control security and audio paging systems with associated infrastructure as they pertain to the renovation of Delta Phi Epsilon (building #173) and Sigma Delta Tau (building #174) sorority chapter houses on the College Park campus. The renovation of buildings #173 and #174 represent Phase VIII of UMCP’s Fraternity/Sorority Renovation Program. Project responsibilities include coordination of design features that relate to gaining points toward LEED Silver certification and coordination of overall technology infrastructure elements with service providers. Space plans include meeting, dining and study areas, residential spaces with community bathrooms and a staff living apartment. Specified systems include access control card readers at all exterior doors, mechanical rooms, telecommunications/security rooms, and electrical rooms and an audio paging system with a phone connected to loudspeakers on each floor. This project is currently in the Construction Documents phase with an expected completion date of July 2010.
