Virginia Commonwealth University – MCV Campus New Recreational Sports Facilities

Project responsibilities for the MCV Campus Recreation and Aquatic Center (part of the Jonah L. Larrick Student Center) included acoustics and noise & vibration control design services. The facility houses a fitness center, aquatic center, and gymnasium.  In addition to basketball, volleyball and badminton, the gymnasium provides racquetball and squash courts, a multipurpose room and a martial arts studio. The scope of work required the review of existing design and construction documents to perform a series of acoustical calculations based on HVAC design, partition types/details, and the salient features of each space. From the results of the analysis a recommendation for sound/mechanical noise and vibration isolation design was provided.  This project is scheduled for completion Spring 2010.
