Virginia Department of General Services General Assembly Building

Project
Commonwealth of Virginia
Department of General Services
General Assembly Building

Description
Convergent Technologies Design Group provide
telecommunications cabling systems with associated
supporting infrastructure for voice/data/RF video
outlets, audiovisual system electronics with associated
supporting infrastructure, access control/video
surveillance systems, room acoustics, interior
sound isolation, and HVAC noise control design
services for the Commonwealth of Virginia
Department of General Services General
Assembly Building located in Richmond, Virginia.
Wherever possible, existing standards for the
telecommunications structured cabling system (SCS)
will be incorporated into the design of the new
facility. The SCS shall be installed to support
the majority of the Information Technology (IT),
building management, surveillance, and access
control systems requirements. CTDG will use the
following specifications as the basis of design
for the General Assembly Building SCS and TRs.
Committee Rooms shall serve as assembly spaces
for the House of Delegates and Senate. The AV
system design will enhance presentations by
improving communications within the space via
visual media reproduction and high fidelity speech
reinforcement. Special emphasis will be placed on
ease of use, audiovisual sightlines and visibility,
and speech intelligibility to facilitate clear,
articulate discussions within the space. The project
covers the renovation and construction of many
various multi-use spaces including private and open
office spaces as well as conference and training
rooms. This project is due to be completed in 2017.
