$394 Million University of Virginia Hospital Expansion featured in Architectural Record

The University Health System is a nationally renowned academic medical center that provides specialty care services ranging from wellness programs and routine checkups to the most technologically advanced care. The hub of the Medical Center is a hospital with over 500 beds in operation and a State-designated Level 1 trauma center. This project involved the expansion of the Emergency Department to accommodate an existing and growing demand for emergency care. The department will include an intensive care/intermediate care unit, intake & public support areas, mental health services, treatment/exam rooms, trauma rooms, radiology rooms, nurse stations, conference room and support areas. The Expansion also included a six (6) floor patient bed tower with acute, step down and ICU units. CTDG was responsible for the design of the low voltage systems, to include telecommunications cabling systems, audiovisual systems, paging/background music systems, nurse call and video surveillance/ electronic access control systems.
