Project Description

In the Horizon Hall project at George Mason University, Convergent Technologies Design Group (CTDG) played a key role in providing professional design services for telecommunications cabling systems, supporting infrastructure, voice/data/RF video outlets, Access Control/Video Surveillance Systems, Audiovisual Systems, and Networking Electronics. This initiative, part of the Robinson Hall Demolition and New Construction, took place in Fairfax, VA, and was successfully completed in December 2021.

Horizon Hall, now a monumental 218,000 SF academic and research facility, is home to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Mason Innovation Exchange (MIX). CTDG’s expertise extended beyond traditional infrastructure, encompassing innovative elements such as distance learning setups, maker spaces, creative technology niches, and hybrid learning spaces. The project showcases CTDG’s commitment to not only enhancing telecommunications infrastructure but also fostering cutting-edge educational environments that cater to modern pedagogical needs. The revamped Horizon Hall now boasts shared meeting rooms, faculty/staff office spaces, and collaborative study areas, making it a hub for dynamic and interactive learning experiences.
