[col3]Kyma Restaurant is a popular restaurant, bar and lounge located in Annapolis, Maryland. Convergent Technologies was asked to provide Acoustical Testing and Measurement services for Kyma Restaurant. The restaurant’s General Manager observed that noise levels when fully occupied were too loud and impeded normal conversations between diners. This project involved acoustical testing and measurement, sound isolation design, and treatment type recommendations. The purpose was to determine a means by which the reverberant noise could be reduced so as to provide a pleasant atmosphere for conversation. Scope of work included taking measurements during full occupancy, comparing to noise levels traditionally permissible in such environments and making recommendations to improve the acoustical quality of the restaurant by reducing noise levels. Recommendations included ceiling treatments for the first and second floors, window treatments and wall treatments. An acoustical report was developed outlining observations and recommendations. Included in the report was the suggestion of a phase implementation of the outlined recommendations and the recording of the results before proceeding to the next modification. This project has been complete since January 2007.[/col3]
[col3]Convergent Technologies provided acoustics, noise and vibration control consulting for various spaces throughout the new 126 room Hilton Garden Inn, located in the heart of the Annapolis historic district. Services included conducting an analysis of various partition types. Recommendations were made for partition types including windows, operable partitions, and penetrations to be in keeping with desired sound levels. Spaces analyzed in this project included corridors, guest rooms, meeting room, pool/exercise room, mechanical/laundry room, and exterior areas. Convergent Technologies calculated STC ratings for custom partition types provided by the architect. The project has been successfully complete since 2006.[/col3]

[col3]The scope of work for the Frederick County Public Schools, West Frederick Middle School Renovation/Addition, consists of noise and vibration control design consulting through the review of the 50% construction documents package along with the octave band sound power levels for one chiller tower to be installed adjacent to an existing air cooled chiller. The facility’s seasonal shutdown of the existing cooling system posed a problem for onsite acoustical measurements to be gathered, but a direction for design was developed through the acquired data of the specified series of existing air cooled chiller, the noise ordinance information from the City of Frederick and the variety of noise control options available. Project responsibilities also include an outlined period for deliverables, with RFI responses and recommendations for suitable substitutions to specified solutions, as well as Fall construction administration services.[/col3]
