Convergent Technologies is providing all acoustics, noise & vibration control consulting for this new high profile seven-story School of Business at Temple University. Project challenges include the early identification and communication of acoustical criteria to the owner and design team in order to identify cost impacts and effects of acoustical design on the building envelope. Responsibilities also include the development of acoustical criteria for room adjacencies, HVAC equipment noise levels, sound isolation, and room acoustical and floor slab vibration properties for all acoustically sensitive spaces throughout the facility. Space plans for acoustical consideration and recommendation include: conference rooms, seminar rooms, breakout rooms, student commons, teaching/research labs, business simulation lab, financial trading room, case study rooms, lecture halls (150-seat), Auditorium (300-400 seat), distance learning rooms, tiered & flat classrooms (50-seat), and common areas throughout the new building. The application of past experience with business school pedagogy was useful in planning acoustical criteria for the new building. Knowledge of specific audiovisual systems specified in state of the art business schools across the country aided in prescribing solutions for noise critical environments. Alter Hall opened for use in April 2009.
