DESCRIPTION
Located on the Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center Liberty Campus, the new proton facility will include two proton treatment rooms for clinical use, with the option for future expansion to add a third. Proton therapy provides a non-invasive, painless, extremely targeted radiation treatment for tumors. This form of therapy is particularly relevant for children as they do not have to be subjected to needless exposure from damaging radiation. There are approximately eleven such treatment centers nationally, with fifteen additional projects planned or in design. CTDG will provide telecommunications, audiovisual, and security systems design services for the project. The scope of this project includes infrastructure design to support all low voltage systems. A three year design and construction effort, this project began in 2014. Anticipated completion for the project is 2017.

The California Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) teamed with the Sacramento Metro Fire Department (SMFD) to remodel the 2nd floor of the SMFD’s headquarters. The new exercise simulation center will simulate disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and wildfires. The simulation works in real time for various teams to respond providing better training to employees. The building is unique because it is shared by multiple government agencies to train for various emergency situations. The facility features multiple video walls and sub-dividable spaces that allow for both large and small group simulation experiences. Convergent Technologies Design Group provided complete audiovisual design services for this project. The project will be complete in 2014.

Design Collective, Inc.

Location:
Baltimore, MD[/col3]

The National Aquarium in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor houses more than 17,000 animals, including 660 species of fish, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and mammals along with multiple educational displays. The Aquarium is building another educational display for its 1.5 annual visitors: the new Atlantic Seashores Exhibit, on the third floor of its Pier 3 building. Convergent Technologies will provide design services for audiovisual system electronics with associated supporting infrastructure. Convergent also will evaluate the exhibit’s overall designs, including ceiling shape/heights and furniture layout, for criteria pertaining to sightlines and projection-system configurations and associated infrastructure. Convergent’s work on the project’s consecutive flow of video displays will help create the exhibit’s virtual “Walk Along the Beach.” Correspondingly, the background audio system will be spatially zoned according to the exhibit’s visual flow – to reinforce the immersion experience of strolling along the seashore. The exhibit’s construction is slated to begin early January 2014.
