University of MD, Baltimore – School of Public Health Building

The scope of this project includes design services for telecommunications cabling systems with associated supporting infrastructure for voice, data and RF video, audiovisual systems with associated supporting infrastructure and acoustics, noise & vibration control as it relates to the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Public Health. Space plans include 100-seat auditorium, 60-seat classroom, 35-seat classroom, 15-seat classroom, Dean’s Conference Room, small conference rooms, medium conference rooms and 35-seat videoconferencing classroom. The auditorium features digital audio/video capture with streaming capabilities to the Local Area Network (LAN). Specified systems include: digital annotation devices, assisted listening system, audiovisual presentation and recording, custom instructor’s lecterns and program/speech audio reinforcement. Project highlights includes coordination with UMB staff on minimum systems performance requirements and preferred audiovisual equipment. Project responsibilities include the review of building criteria as they relate to acoustics, noise and vibration control for all acoustically sensitive spaces throughout the building. Recommendations were made for room shaping and finishes and partition types to be used. This project was designed through Schematic Design. The scope of this project was reduced to include only the auditorium.
