Virginia Commonwealth University – Robert Blackwell Smith School of Pharmacy Renovation

The scope of this project included a $500,000 design to budget for educational technology systems. Convergent Technologies provided complete design services for audiovisual, telecommunications cabling, access control, and video surveillance systems, as well as acoustics, noise and vibration control consulting services for Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Pharmacy Renovation on the MCV campus.Space plans for the renovation included seminar rooms, sub-dividable seminar rooms, laboratories, patient interaction laboratories, Dean’s Conference Room, and common spaces. Specified systems include proximity card readers, videoconferencing capabilities, digital annotation devices, and remote control automation system. Audiovisual systems design features touch panel-operated, remote control and automation systems that reside on the University’s local area network (LAN). Common spaces feature digital signage flat panels precisely placed to provide easy visual access and maximum information. Conference rooms were outfitted with 65′ flat panels that would provide high levels of detail to presentation viewing and analysis of medical information to faculty and students.Additional project responsibilities include the evaluation of building criteria as it applies to acoustics, noise and vibration control for all acoustically sensitive spaces within the building.This project is currently in the Construction Administration phase with completion expected in time for use in Fall 2010 semester.
