Convergent Technologies provided all acoustics, noise and vibration control consulting for this Performing/Visual Arts Building, including involvement in design development drawings, preparation of construction documents, and bidding document review. Space plans include a 900-seat performance auditorium along with supporting music practice rooms, music classrooms, physical education area (gymnasium and supporting spaces) and fine arts classrooms. Acoustical criteria were developed for the auditorium including recommendations for the outer envelope, interior shaping, stage shell, and stage size. Responsibilities also included the development of acoustical criteria for room adjacencies, HVAC equipment noise levels, sound isolation, and room acoustical and floor slab vibration properties for all acoustically sensitive spaces throughout the facility. Project opportunities included an integrated music and arts suite which successfully supports both programs. The project was a three-year multi-phase design and construction effort with a construction completion date of April 2008.
