Capitol College – McGowan Technology Center

The scope of this project included a $275,000.00 design to budget educational technology systems to include: telecommunications cabling (voice, data, RF Video), audiovisual & multimedia, speech reinforcement, data projection, audiovisual presentation and recording, along with custom classroom instructor’s stations and associated infrastructure. Teaching spaces to receive educational technology systems were seven (7) lab/classrooms (30 & 50-seat), 60-seat flexible Center for Business and Academics with video recording capability, and the Technology Lyceum presentation area. Project responsibilities: complete schematic narrative system overview descriptions and detailed per space cost estimating for all educational technology systems. Unique project features included the design of infrastructure at instructor’s station positions and remote equipment rack locations in an effort to support growth of technology systems as future funding becomes available. Project design highlights included detailed cost estimating exercises during preliminary design phases for help in refining total overall building costs and successful value engineering sessions to meet budget goals. The project was a thirty-six month, five-phase design effort and has been successfully complete since February 2005.
