Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority – MTPD District II Police Substation & Training Facility

Convergent Technologies is providing room acoustics, interior sound isolation, and HVAC noise & vibration control design services for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) Substation and Training Facility.  WMATA is fulfilling a requirement for a police substation, a training facility with indoor firing range, and an adjacent parking lot of the Franconia-Springfield Metro Station.  Spaces to receive acoustical review & analysis include: reception, three (3) training rooms, roll call room, gymnasium, break room, layover room, defensive training, interview room, firing range, lobby, armory shop, armory vault, and two (2) range towers.  CTDG is responsible for calculating room reverberation time and speech intelligibility; evaluating STC ratings; recommending noise criterion (NC) levels and architectural sound isolation; and calculating and comparing radiated noise generation from terminal units, duct breakout noise transmission, discharge noise generation from terminal units, and discharge/inlet noise generation from Air Handler units.  Deliverables are being provided in the form of narrative reports.  This project commenced in 2012 and is expected to be complete in May, 2014.
